the Compromised Church
edited by John H. Armstrong
(318 pgs)
This book is a collection of essays concerning
the the contemporary evangelical church. It reviews the current
trends in attitudes toward issues such as doctrine, the sacraments,
and the church compared to the biblical views on such topics.
The best way to describe this book is to give examples of
chapter titles: Church-O-Rama or Corporate Worship. the Priesthood
of All Believers, The Means of Grace, Church Discipline: Missing
the Mark, Preaching: The Decisive Function, and Evangelical
Ministry: The Puritan Contribution are less than half of the
topics to be found in this book. The first couple chapters
can get a little technical in their wording but don't let
it stop you because the rest of the book is a relatively easy
read.
This book is pretty good but
there are better books about the topic of the modern worship
service.
