"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline".

God made man

i found this depiction of the crucifixion...disturbing. Jesus is dirty, skinnier than an anorexic and utterly wretched. You always see pictures of Him as this cheery, happy fellow; a skinny young version of santa perhaps. even depictions of the cross are not as horrifying as this one...and the thing that makes the picture seem the most sacriligious is the fact that Jesus looks nothing like God. no majesty. no shining lights. no strength. but you see, this is what israel saw when Christ walked the earth and claimed to be God...it seemed blasphemous...outrageous..dishonoring to God...but this is what God became...something no one would ever ask of Him. This thing which anyone who has any love at all toward God would try to stop Him from doing because it tarnished His glory so much...this is what He did...the wisdom of man is befuddled and found wanting...and for once i see that God, the Christ has known sorrow, disappointment, suffering, exhaustion...He knows. He understands. and though these are poor excuses for our betrayal of Him...He still takes pity..His love is greater than our sin...and for those of us who know the power of sin...this is an amazing thing.
