"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline".

man to God

To speak of the relationship of man to God, we must first speak of God to man. For God approached us; He loves us first. In His sovereign will and infinite love, God chose us. If we were given the choice, we would still be clinging to our sin. He renewed our hearts and opened our eyes to His truth and beauty before we even had the desire to seek Him. It was He who gave us the gift of faith. We did not muster it out of our own goodness.

And so what is important now is how we respond. Our goal is to glorify God, to worship and love Him more everyday. There's really so much to say about this topic…but I guess all that really matters is that you love God. We may stumble, we may crawl, but we must keep pressing on. Beyond being the best leader, the most eloquent speaker, the loudest prayer, or the nicest guy…what really makes the man of God is that he loves Him more than anything. Sometimes it's easy to treat God as a means to an end. If my relationship is better with God, I can be more secure, I can love my brothers more fully, I can evangelize more effectively, I can live a fuller life, etc., etc. But in everything we do, loving God is not the means; it is the end. Whether it be eating or drinking, we do all things for the glory of God, simply just to love Him. Brothers, God is willing and waiting to deepen your relationship with Him. Our prayer is that we would fall completely in love with Him. Let us run this race together, keeping our eyes on His beautiful face. God bless.
